Fair Breeding Program

For a healthy Breed,
Now and in the future!

As a breeder, we support the fair breeding program of, among others, the Raad van Beheer

The core of this program is about preserving a dog breed. In our case the SAARLOS WOLF DOG.

Important points from the fair breeding program:

outcross
inbreeding restriction
health

We fully support a good, nuanced and genetically improving form of outcross.

inbreeding restriction:

In addition to the canine regulations which describe that a bitch may not be covered by:

her grandfather
her father
her brother
her son
her grandson

we have decided as follows: that it may also not be covered by:

her half-brother (VFR)
her “full” uncle
her half-uncle
her “full” cousin
children of her siblings
children of her half-siblings

In the context of the genetic diversity within the general population, we will also avoid combinations that have already been made with her sister(s), half-sisters, daughters, parents.

Health:

With regard to health, we will make the most conscious choice possible.

The hereditary diseases come in the Saarloos wolfdog population DM (Degenerative Myelopathy) and Dwarfism (Pituitary Dwarfism) in front of. The bitches living with us are completely FREE from these diseases. We as a kennel stand for a healthy population and have decided to make the choice that puppies born with us will be carriers of at most 1 of these diseases. With choice, completely free of course is preferred.

Epilepsy occurs in a very small part of the population. Unfortunately, epilepsy cannot be tested by means of a gene test, therefore males with epilepsy (sufferers) will not be used for breeding within our kennel in order to further reduce this risk.

Hip dysplasia: The bitches living with us come from a long line of healthy hip scores (HD-A). When selecting a male, we will use a male with a maximum HD-B score, HD-A is of course always preferred.
